PM announces about 'Star rising in the North’

Siem Reap: Prime Minister Hun Sen has announced from Siem Reap that the North of the Kingdom of Cambodia will be the star rising of the North after the development in area has increased significantly.

 Speaking on the sidelines of the construction of the new Siem Reap-Angkor Airport in Siem Reap's Sonikum district on 3 April 2022, Prime Minister Hun Sen said: It's time for us to say this because we have made a lot of progress on the connection between Phnom Penh and Siem Reap and from Siem Reap to Banteay Meanchey and Battambang, plus we have invested a lot in Siem Reap building, well-supported infrastructure in the inaugurated provincial town. We are building a giant international airport in Siem Reap. Therefore, it serves the development of the North area which can cover Siem Reap, Oddar Meanchey, Kampong Thom and can be part of Preah Vihear.”

 He stated that Cambodia has three poles: Phnom Penh, which is the heart and the central administration, Sihanoukville which is the sea tourism pole (Star rising area in the southwest), and Siem Reap province, which is the cultural tourism pole (Star rising area in the north).

 According to Prime Minister Hun Sen, in the coming days, there will also be announcements of stars in the northeast: Kratie, Mondulkiri, Ratanakkiri and Stung Treng provinces.
